Spurs’ Youth Movement

The San Antonio Spurs are back in the NBA Finals, led by their young core, and Mavs fans can’t help but feel a mix of emotions. HoosierDaddyKid writes:

“Will Guillory: Six of the seven Spurs who played 10+ minutes tonight are 26 or younger. These dudes are just getting started.”

This young team, led by Wemby, has Mavs fans like FireNicoHarrison worried:

“I don’t know if it’s worse a player who Cuban gifted away wins the Finals MVP or the Spurs.”

But Spurs fans are excited, and Chicagojk thinks Chet Holmgren’s struggles against Wemby might have been a turning point:

“No excuse for Chet’s play. I really think Wemby snatched his soul.”

Knicks’ Revival

The New York Knicks are back in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, and Mavs fans are reminded of the team’s rich history. dirkfansince1998 notes:

“Last time the Knicks made the finals was in 1999. They faced a Spurs teams that was led by a 22 year old big…”

But with ticket prices skyrocketing, not everyone can afford to watch the Knicks play. HoosierDaddyKid reports:

“According to a Ticketmaster listing, the lowest available resale tickets were listed at approximately $1,245 per seat as of Sunday.”

OKC’s Draft Magic

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s draft strategy has raised eyebrows around the league, and Mavs fans are no exception. F Gump breaks down how OKC managed to land Shai Gilgeous-Alexander:

“In the 2024 draft, they began with no 2nd round pick (how odd is that!), but apparently wanted Mitchell badly. So during the draft, they made ALL of this happen … 1 OKC trades a back of the roster guy for pick 52. They gave up a minimum salary guy (Waters) who they had developed from a free agent as a two-way for several years who they had just converted to a regular contract mid-season. Lightly used, good stats.”

Mavs fans like HoosierDaddyKid wonder if OKC’s GM, Sam Presti, knows what he’s doing:

“Ya think Presti knows what he’s doing?”

Mavs Fans React

As the NBA Finals approach, Mavs fans are reflecting on their own team’s performance. Chicagojk ranks teams by their playoff rage, with the Mavs coming in third:

“Mavericks- We can’t feel pain any more.”

Meanwhile, HIMAV cautions against counting out other teams:

“Great points mvossman. So many things happen so quickly in the NBA it’s hard to count out Flagg and Masai just yet. Yes Wemby and the Spurs might be a dynasty, but they also may not be due to various reason (injuries, player decline, teams figure out GOOD anti-wemby gameplans, hurt egos, cap casualties, etc…)”

The NBA Finals are just around the corner, and Mavs fans are eager to see which team will emerge victorious. Will it be the Spurs’ young core or the Knicks’ experienced roster? One thing’s for sure – it’s going to be an exciting series. And if Wemby wins a ring, CooPerFan predicts:

“Wemby might get his first ring soon. There will be a goat talk as soon as next season if he win the title this year.”
