The Knicks are Back (or Are They?)
The Knicks are on a roll, but don’t count on them to win it all just yet. SwisherPrice thinks they’ve got a good shot against the Spurs, but not OKC: “Knicks are really back. It’s a game of matchups, I think they can beat the Spurs with the advantage in experience but not OKC.” Meanwhile, windjc isn’t buying it: “The Knicks are most likely getting swept by either team. Maybe they will last 5 or 6.”
Wemby’s Woes
Wemby’s having a tough time, and Chicagojk isn’t impressed: “I did not watch much of the game last night but from what I saw it was a very uncharacteristic game for Wemby. He needs to be better.” And numnuts23 has some… creative analysis: “Wemby got majority of his points at the line last night, just like SGA did. Wemby has learned to throw his head and arms around for the standing flop.”
The Thunder’s On It
The Thunder are on a roll, and HoosierDaddyKid has some juicy gossip: “A former NBA player accuses the refs of rigging the playoffs for the Thunder.” Meanwhile, RasheedsBigWhiteSpot thinks OKC’s success will impact their offseason moves: “If OKC kicks ass the rest of the way, he may be more apt to simply run it back than if his team loses by 30 in Game 5 and 6.”
Mavs Musings
The Mavs’ offseason is already heating up, and michaeltex has some financial insight: “Sitting at $205M for 26/27 season with only 9 contracts. Currently sitting at $213M for 27/28 with only 7 contracts. OUCH.” Meanwhile, dirkfansince1998 is still fuming about the team’s playoff performance: “He highlighted the need to focus on transition defense in the pre-game interview only to watch his team give up 26 fastbreak points in the first half. Not just throwing the towel on the series. Doing it in a way that almost feels like they quit on the coach.”
Height Matters
The debate over height in the NBA continues, with HoosierDaddyKid citing Becky Hammon: “WNBA coach Becky Hammon says if your best player is small you’re not winning a title.” But mvossman has some numbers to throw at that: “Steph was 6’ 2” without shoes at 180 lbs and 6’ 3.5” wingspan. I think that leans toward small.”
The Takeaway
As the playoffs heat up, one thing’s for sure: it’s going to be a wild ride. From the Knicks’ surprising run to Wemby’s woes, there’s plenty to talk about. And as Winter points out, “Wemby’s body just doesn’t look like the body that can withstand regular seasons, playoffs, and championships year-after-year.” We’ll see what the future holds, but for now, it’s time to enjoy the ride.
